Completed December 4, 2011. This painting was one that I have struggled with for some months. I wanted to create a piece celebrating the memory of people from in my life who have passed.
In my travels to Mexico I was really inspired by the alters that people created for the
Day of the Dead. This painting started as a skeleton with roses. It didn’t resonate with me. Even though I am deeply moved by art I have seen with such imagery I felt that my depiction was static. Hopefully this piece captures the sentiment of remembrance
and love.
